Tempest Works is an Amsterdam-based menswear store focused on premium international labels. It’s a shop for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts, and is our take on a discerning and purposeful wardrobe.

We’re all about effortlessly casual luxury apparel with technical and durable design. Our labels bring a cosmopolitan style that is outdoor-ready—flair optional. But when you shop with us, we put the person first, not the garment. We provide frictionless service, curated attention to detail, and a sense of community the Dutch would call gezellig.

Tempest Team

We’re a pair of Americans who have been living in Amsterdam for the past year. We’ve fallen in love with the city’s culture, urbanism, infrastructure, art, food, and active lifestyle. Work brought us here, and since we arrived, we came to a fork in the road professionally: stay the course or try something more creative? We decided to take the leap.

The Shop

Our shop is in central Amsterdam, at Kerkstraat 131. Located in the heart of the city’s arts district, the shop is just a few hundred meters from its most majestic museums. We’re looking forward to welcoming you in for a coffee and a browse in our cozy living room vibes. You might even get a Japanese whiskey if you’re special.

I was born in Colombia, raised across Colombia, Argentina, and the US, and now live in Amsterdam. I have a thing for well made clothes. I believe that dressing for a dynamic lifestyle shouldn’t come at the cost of character or design. I also have an appreciation for global designers who continue to develop and introduce new life into our styles. What excites me about this project is the ability to connect labels and people from across the globe and bring together a vision for a lasting yet exciting wardrobe. I also hope to bring my flavor and voice of levity to the experience.

Leah

I grew up in the US, bounced around the world a bit, and landed in Amsterdam. I’ve always followed the fashion industry and have been seeking a way to infuse creativity and a global community into my work. Tempest ticks all of those boxes. I want to contribute to this space by curating a collection of long-lasting, well-designed, quality garments that are produced ethically. And no matter what my title says, I am not an accountant.

Is a 7-ish year old Havanese-mix rescue who has led the charge in our journey overseas. As the store’s General Manager, he intends to run a tight ship. Interests include tennis balls, long walks along the canals, and whatever his parents are eating.

Styling Our Pieces for Everyone

Hey, all, Leah here. I wear a lot of pieces from the shop not just because I enjoy their design, but also because I enjoy the creativity that comes from having a broader range of garments and design details to choose from. I also believe that when we choose our outfits we shouldn't be hemmed in (no pun intended) by who garments are designed for. For instance, I appreciate the classic silhouettes, natural fibers, and historic references you find in menswear but that are often absent from women's wear. Above all, the most important things are staying true to your style, having things fit the way you want them to (not just the way they're "supposed to"), and embracing the vibe you're going for. To celebrate this idea, we invited our good friend Victoria, an Amsterdam-based blogger and creative, to show off just how well so many pieces from the shop work on everyone.

Introducing Engineered Garments x Paraboot

For this FW23 season, Daiki Suzuki and Paraboot continue the story. Based on the Galibier outdoor brand's classic Avoriaz mountain boots, Daiki Suzuki has imagined a shoe with six D-rings, three on each side, staggered so that the laces form a complex but intentional design. Together with the Norwegian zigzag welt and lug sole, which are part of Paraboot's DNA, this design combines a sophisticated look that goes beyond casual wear and can work with dressier outfits.
